Utilization Review First
Health performs utilization review and management services for many,
but not all of our clients who use The First Health®
Network. Check the patient's benefit card to determine the inpatient
admissions and/or outpatient procedure requirements.
If First Health performs utilization review for the
patient's health plan you must call as early as possible to notify
us about a planned inpatient stay or within two business days of
an emergency admission in order to preserve full reimbursement and
maximum plan benefits for the patient. Outpatient review requirements
vary greatly by health plan. We recommend that you ask about the
utilization review features of the payor's benefit plan when you
call to verify the patient's eligibility and benefits.
